                  We welcome your request!

Here are the type of  opportunities we are looking to assist emergency service                      members and/or their departments with:
  • Training Class
  • Text Books
  • Guest Instructor Fees
  • Community Training Event costs
We want to help those who want to better the service to the community they serve.
If you are requesting text books, they will need to be made available to other emergency service members so as much use may be made from this investment.
If the request is for a guest instructor, then an invitation for all emergency service departments to participate is required.
Go to our Education Asst. Request Form for more information.

The Lt. Brad Hutcherson Memorial Fire School is proud to welcome the FOOLS of Oz to the 2010 program.

Picture
These brothers are making the journey from Wichita, Kansas to pass on some knowledge and share in the festivities. The FOOLS of Oz will be presenting a full day Engine/Truck class with plenty of hands on skill stations.

Not everyone is fortunate enough to have separate Truck and Engine companies in their Department, so this class will address some of the many  skills that can be utilized on the fireground. Students will have a chance to learn and perform both Engine and Truck tactics. Six different skill stations are planned to give the participants a full day of work. Full PPE and SCBA will be required to participate.

This class is always in high demand, so we are extremely appreciative the FOOLS of Oz are willing to present this practical and valuable information. Don't let this opportunity pass you by, this one will fill up quick!

LTBHMFS is pleased to anounce Troy Webster to our instructor list for our 2010 event.

He's Back!!!

Firefighter Scott Shaw of the Cincinnati F.D. has again committed to be part of the LTBHMFS instructor staff. He has been with us since day one and we are once again extremely pleased to have him on board. Scott has taught vehicle extrication for the last two years at the LTBHMFS. Year one covered the basics while our second annual event saw him take on advanced situations and techniques. Scott's experience and knowledge has been a valuable asset to our fire school and the students he instructs.
Scott hopes to instruct extrication again this year. He feels drawn to this subject since Lt. Brad Hutcherson was killed in a  vehicle crash. It's just one of the ways that Scott connects with our school and honors Brad's memory.
Many of Scott's scenarios were caught on camera, so check out our photo gallery. I know he will continue to raise the bar as    he has for so many years as a fire service instructor. To find out more about Scott Shaw, check out our Instructor page.
The staff of the Lt. Brad Hutcherson Memorial Fire School along with Brad's family feels very honored to welcome Scott back   for our third annual event. He is a fireman's fireman and captures the true meaning of what the LTBHMFS is all about. Catch his class if you can.....they fill up fast!

School Director Trey Nelms
On June 28th, 2010, Lt. Brad Hutcherson Memorial Fire School Director Trey Nelms was asked to speak at the promotion and pinning ceremony of the White House Community Volunteer Fire Dept. Director Nelms was asked to speak about the Fire School, it's growth, and future.     Trey reinforced the founding principles of the LTBHMFS and encouraged all emergency responders that were present to participate in the Fire School. He also reminded the WHCVFD members that their agency was the first to receive Continuing Education Assistance from the LTBHMFS. 10 IFSTA Essentials manuals were purchased for the WHCVFD in Brad's memory in 2009. Director Nelms also made it known that the LTBHMFS would begin taking applications for Continuing Education Assistance on July 1st, 2010. The date, time, and location of the 2010 Fire School was also passed along to the ceremony attendees along with some topics and instructor information. All those present were encouraged to check out the LTBHMFS website for continuing education assistance, Fire School updates, pictures, and many other additions.

The Lt. Brad Hutcherson Memorial fire school has evolved from an idea to an event that looks to be held annually. The idea was to provide top-notch training to those that need it most at minimal cost while honoring Lt. Brad Hutcherson and his contributions to the Fire Service
in Robertson County, Tennessee.

Lt. Hutcherson was killed in
a motor vehicle crash in August of 2008 and his loss has left a void in the lives of  family, friends, and emergency responders. The Fire School hopes to provide healing to those trying to cope with Brad's loss by being involved in something that would please him and help better prepare our emergency responders.

We have some of the best instructors around presenting at our event. All presenters are certified Instructors and each has several years of fire service experience. Most have served in Career and Volunteer departments and have served in various positions/ranks throughout their careers. Some of our Instructors are very well known on the national curcuit as they have presented at the FDIC, Firehouse Expo, and National Fire Academy. There will be something for every student, from the fire recruit to the experienced Company or Chief Officer.

The Lt. Brad Hutcherson Memorial Fire School strives to enhance the knowledge,
skill, and ability of all attending students. Each year we will have informative classes, the best instructors, challenging hands on activities, and great door prize and raffle opportunities. All proceeds from this event will go to the Lt. Brad Hutcherson
Memorial Fund, that will be awarded to emergency service providers.

We know this event would make Brad proud and we hope you can be a part of it. We encourage anyone interested in participating, donating, etc. to contact us for more information. Thanks for your interest in the Lt. Brad Hutcherson Memorial Fire School and we hope to see or hear from you soon.

Stay safe,

(Trey) Nelms, Fire School Director
